The “Best High Jewellery watch of 2010” awarded to the spectacular “Big Bang One Million $ Lady”

Within the framework of the 6th edition of the "Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards 2010" organized in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Hublot won the prize (particularly coveted in the region) of "Best High Jewellery Watch of 2010" for the Big Bang One Million $ Lady 38 mm. The ceremony was held on 26 October at the Ritz Carlton Hotel before an audience of more than 800 VIP guests. The prize was presented by HH Sheikh Mohamad Ben Abdallah Al Khalifa to Mr. Jacques Tedeschi, who represents Hublot in the Middle East.

The Big Bang One Million $ Lady 38 mm is an exceptional piece featuring a total of 880 baguette diamonds, adding up to more than 48 carats. Made from white gold by Master stone-setters using the complex "invisible set" technique which magnifies the brilliance of the diamonds, it is a piece that has enjoyed major success since its presentation in Basel in April 2010. Due to the complexity of its production, it is a watch that is made by special order only.

The "Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards" ceremony is organised every year by Arabian Watches and Jewellery Magazine. This year saw record participation, with more than 480 applications received to compete in the 10 categories. The voting was conducted on-line by the public and by the editorial team of the magazine.

2011 Hair Trends: 2011 Hairstyles For Women

Like all fashion trends, hair trends generally come, go, and then come back. Infrequently, though, there is the odd hairstyle that appears to have had its time only to soon reappear, though thoroughly evolved.

The bob and fringe (bangs) may be one such hairstyle.

Surging to popularity in 2008 before fading out at the tail end of 2009, I didn't think that less than a year later a come back may be on the cards. And yet here it is, spurred on largely by model Abbey Lee Kershaw.

Read on to find out more about the comeback of the bob with fringe hairstyle and how it differs from the style worn by so many through 2008 and 2009. And don't forget: if you'd like to keep up to date with all the latest hair trends, along with 2010 and 2011 fashion trends, be sure to subscribe to our free fashion newsletter or our RSS feed.

How is it different for 2010 / 2011?

The bob in 2008 was all about razor sharpness; edginess - often bluntly cut to chin length. By 2009 the bob had softened a little. Fringes were growing out. Messy layers were taking over from blunt lines. But the styles to be seen were still either thoroughly classic, or thoroughly modern.

In 2010 and onwards retro influences will triumph. The trend towards sophisticated '70s dressing will be accompanied by the longer bob, neatly blow-waved under with a straight (but not too harsh) edge.

The same longer bob can, in 2010/2011, also be styled with a '60s twist: back-combed for volume with the ends flicked out, or with a softer folk influence and unfussy styling (think Jane Birkin and Francoise Hardy).

While the fringe isn't mandatory to create a retro-inspired bob, it is, regardless, also returning to the scene. The thickness and cut of the fringe hasn't changed all that much over the past few years; with fashion favouring thick bangs with blunt-cut lines. Wispy or layered fringes are still to be avoided. What you can play with is the length, with a shorter fringe (like the one seen on Abbey Lee Kershaw, below) another option.

Finally, one more way to mix up the fringe in 2010/2011 - round down the corners to add a mod face-framing effect. This can be very subtle, or more dramatic depending on your preference.

Winter 2010 Women's Shoe Trend: Fur Boots

It's taken over our jackets, conquered our coats and dresses. In Fall 2010 we've even seen it on skirts, hats and handbags. It's a natural progression that now the fur trend has crept its way down to our feet, creating a new 2010 fashion trend: fur boots.

So put on your cutest ski-bunny mittens and buckle up your winter coat: it's a slippery ride but one that may well be worth it.

Fur boots: the trend

In 2010 and onwards, fur and fur lined boots are opportune for several entirely different looks. On the one hand, they're perfect for the cute-as-a-button ski bunny. But they can also be your key accessory as a picture of English country elegance. Finally, and so perfectly, a primitive, pelt-like pair of fur boots is the ultimate in winter boheme.

Mukluks

While mukluks were traditionally made of materials like seal skin, today's versions are more often the all-over hairy kind. These can be tricky. While they worked on the arctic themed runway of Chanel, in the real world you can wind up looking like a yeti. Worse, like you meandered out of the house in your slippers. If you can pull them off with the finesse of Chanel go for it, otherwise tread carefully.

How to wear fur boots

• Elegantly - in its most simple form, a pair of subtly fur-lined ankle boots work a treat against a pair of tights and a winter skirt or sophisticated pair of shorts.

• With a mish-mash of other winter fabrics: try leather, wool and country tweeds.

• For a cosy snow-cabin look, follow D&G's lead with Fair Isle knits.

• Prettied up against delicate flowing fabrics for a woodland-nymph effect. Try pastel or nude coloured silks paired, or even some underlayers of tulle.

• Bohemian. Look to Roberto Cavalli and Thakoon for inspiration for one of the strongest fur looks in 2010. Part primitive with rugged, natural furs and part 70s bohemian with eclectic layers and prints. Just add bedhair.

Real or faux

As with anything fur related, the choice is of course yours. There are plenty of faux fur options out there if real fur is not your preference.
