After last season’s provocative challenge– “How Duckie Can You Get?”– on a dark collection that seemed both nuclear fall-out and winter sports ready, the men behind Duckie Brown, Daniel Silver and Steven Cox, whisk us away to a happier locale with sheer fabric and pops of color, inspiring lounging in languor of summer this season.
The direction for this season is very much about the body–unveiling the body with happy optimism–perfectly related through light knits with ruching that seemed deliberately serendipitous. These subtle pieces are paired with more dramatic crisp shorts with couture bows, and some are layered over stretchy swimsuits with a vintage look updated in light modern shades. The easy collection is also accentuated with brightly colored sheer shirts of geometric shapes and checks. Other than summer staples fitting for the embracing sun of St. Tropez, a varied collection of outerwear ranging from safari jackets to check funnel bombers tops the light items during chillier spring days.
Also note worthy from the collection is the collection of brightly colored suede shoes strutting down the runway to accompany the delightfully optimistic pieces. The shoes are created in collaboration with Florsheim, with whom they had been in a collaborative relationship with prior to this season.
The collection is a solid and wearable one that makes intermixing pieces within the collection and one’s wardrobe easy for all ages ranging of 25-85. With that note, The Duckie Days Are Here Again indeed for us to anticipate frolicking in style next year.
